Jennifer Kimber is an experienced and credentialed pharmacist with over 23 years in community pharmacy, specialising in medication management reviews, pharmacogenomics, and the quality use of medicines. With a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) from James Cook University and postgraduate credentials in advanced practice and prescribing, she is dedicated to delivering safe, personalised, and evidence-based care.
Credentialed since 2017, Jennifer has delivered Residential Medication Management Reviews (RMMRs) and Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) services in aged care facilities, as well as Home Medicines Reviews (HMRs) across the Townsville region. She also advocates for personalised medicine through pharmacogenomics, offering DNA testing that helps tailor medication choices to a patient’s genetic profile.
Jennifer’s professional journey includes:
- Serving as General Manager and later Manager Mentor for a prominent pharmacy chain
- Acting as a preceptor to numerous intern pharmacists since 2004- a role she cherishes
- Working as a casual academic at James Cook University’s College of Medicine and Dentistry
- Becoming one of Austalia's first immunisation pharmacists
- Establishing Townsville’s first community-based long-acting injectable buprenorphine (LAIB) clinic
- Becoming one of Australia's first prescribing pharmcists in 2024
She also holds leadership roles beyond pharmacy, including as Director of Kimber Administration Pty Ltd and Executive Administration Officer at Raion Engineering, where she oversees business development, HR, and finance.
Jennifer’s passion for innovation and professional excellence is matched by her personal interests in trail running, Pilates, and travel. She continues to be a driving force in advancing pharmacy practice and personalised care in Australia and has recently begun offering one on one professional coaching for pharmacists

DNA testing (pharmacogenomics)
A pharmacogenomic test (DNA testing for medicines) helps identify how your genes affect your response to medications, allowing for more precise and personalised prescribing. It can reduce the risk of side effects, improve treatment effectiveness, and minimise trial-and-error when starting new medicines. The test is done using a simple cheek swab — no blood required — and provides lifelong insights to guide safer, smarter medication decisions.
Genes currently tested: CYP2D6, CYP2C19, CYP2C9, CYP1A2, CYP3A4, CYP3A5, VKORC1, ABCG2, CYP2B6, OPRM1, SLCO1B1
Home Medicines Reviews
A Home Medicines Review (HMR) can benefit a wide range of patients, particularly those who may be at risk of medication-related problems. People who may benefit include:
- Patients taking multiple medications (usually five or more)
- Recently discharged from hospital
- Elderly individuals, especially those living alone
- People with complex or chronic health conditions
- Those experiencing side effects or unsure about how to take their medicines
- Patients using high-risk medicines (e.g. warfarin, insulin, opioids)
- Anyone with suspected medication adherence issues
- People with cognitive impairment or memory difficulties
- Carers managing medications on behalf of someone else
HMRs are designed to improve medication safety, optimise therapy, and support better health outcomes — and they’re 100% Medicare-funded with a GP referral.
